The weekly half hour adventure drama Island Venture premiered over the CBS network on November 8, 1945. It was sponsored by Wrigley Spearmint Chewing Gum. The series was created to replace First Line, which was no longer relevant following the end of World War II.

The Island Venture story line revolved around the exploits of ex-navy pilot Gil Perry who returned to the South Pacific as the owner of an air freight company. Perry was first played by Jerry Walters, and later by Ken Griffin; his partner Trigger Bret was played by Hugh Rowlands; others in the cast included: Clare Baum as Mr. Mendoza, Jane Webb as Polly Mendoza, and Willard Waterman as Chula. The announcers were Robert Cunningham, Ken Nordine, and Robert Venables.

The final broadcast of Island Venture aired on June 20, 1946.
